Verdict $900,000

Margarita Beccera was shopping at the 99 Cents Store in East Los Angeles when she slipped on water leaking out of the Ice Machine, fracturing her knee cap. She ultimately needed a total knee replacement. The Store denied responsibility whatsoever. In trial, it was apparent that the Store “lost” the video of the incident (like they do in every case coincidentally), and also hid other evidence. The jury found unanimously in Mrs. Becerrra’s favor and awarded her a total verdict of 900K. The testimony from her loving husband and son painted a very compelling picture to the jury about how good a person Mrs. Becerra is, and how this gruesome injury affected her life and livelihood.
