He Was Shot at by ICE, Then Wrongfully Accused. His Nightmare Had Only Just Begun

The Guardian reported on the case of Francisco Longoria, a San Bernardino business owner who was stopped by masked ICE and CBP agents on the morning of August 16, 2025 while driving to make a delivery. According to the report, the agents did not identify themselves and had no warrant. One agent broke the driver’s side window and struck Longoria in the face. As he drove away, an agent fired three rounds at the truck. Longoria was later charged with a felony for allegedly weaponizing his vehicle against officers and held in ICE detention for months before the case against him was dropped.

Longoria and his family have filed suit against the federal government and the officers involved, seeking damages for physical and psychological injury, lost wages, property damage, wrongful incarceration, and reputational harm. Greg Jackson, partner and managing attorney at The Simon Law Group, told The Guardian: “It was an illegal stop. It’s one of those stops where they saw brown people in a truck and decided to exercise their perceived authority over them.” The family’s attorneys have called on California Attorney General Rob Bonta to open a criminal investigation.
