Arizona and California co-counsel capability

Choose your level of involvement

One case. Three ways to work together.

You decide how involved you want to be. We put the arrangement in writing, keep the client informed, and make the division of work clear from day one.

01

Complete handoff

Our team takes the lead. The written co-counsel agreement defines each firm’s services or responsibility consistent with applicable rules.

02

Active co-counsel

Work the file together with clear roles, consistent communication, and the resources of our trial team.

03

Second chair

Keep the file and try the case alongside one of The Simon Law Group’s trial attorneys.

The handoff is part of your reputation

Four commitments you can hold us to.

01

Your relationship is respected.

We treat the client experience as an extension of the trust you already built, not an opportunity to replace it.

02

You stay informed.

We agree on communication expectations up front and keep you current at meaningful case milestones.

03

The economics are documented.

Roles, expenses, and fee division are put in writing, with the client’s informed written consent.

04

The path to trial is real.

When the defense will not deal fairly, your case is backed by a team built to carry it through verdict and post-trial work.

When the case crosses a state line

Keep the referral inside a team that knows both sides.

A California client is injured in Arizona. An Arizona case needs California discovery, witnesses, or trial support. The Simon Law Group offers a direct bridge between jurisdictions, with Arizona-licensed attorneys and a broader California trial platform.

  • Three Arizona-licensed attorneys
  • Phoenix office and local team

Proposed co-counsel fee structure

“Our co-counsel structure is designed to give referring firms a larger share of the attorney fee than they may receive under many traditional referral arrangements.”

The form of co-counsel and fee division varies by jurisdiction. Every arrangement will be structured under a written agreement and with the client’s informed written consent in accordance with Arizona E.R. 1.5(e) or California Rule of Professional Conduct 1.5.1, as applicable.

Referral-fee language applies only to lawyer-to-lawyer arrangements. No attorney fee division with a med-legal provider is implied.

Every arrangement starts in writing
  • Services and responsibility defined
  • Client informed written consent
  • Fee division follows applicable ethics rules

Before you reach out

A clear first step for a potential referral.

What cases can we discuss?

Serious personal injury matters in Arizona or California, cross-border cases, and files that may benefit from additional litigation, trial, bad-faith, law-and-motion, or post-trial support. Case fit is evaluated individually.

What happens after the first contact?

Our Arizona team will review the basic case posture and discuss fit, jurisdiction, deadlines, and the level of involvement you want. Sensitive records and conflict information can follow through the appropriate secure process.

How are roles and fees decided?

The firms agree on responsibilities, expenses, communication, and fee division in writing. Any fee division is subject to the client’s informed written consent and the professional-conduct rules that apply.
